About Rios Tropicales

Rios Tropicales operates Rios Lodge, an award-winning ecolodge nestled on the banks of the Pacuare River in Costa Rica's tropical rainforest. The jungle resort is located on a private rainforest reserve of 1,000 hectares in Limon Province, on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. The lodge sits right beside the pristine Pacuare River and immediately upstream of the renowned Pacuare Gorge white water section. Sustainably built using reclaimed wood and totally off the grid with hydroelectric power, the ecolodge is a model of positive ecotourism. Guests enjoy comfortable rooms overlooking the river, private baths, in-room electricity, lighted walkways at night, and sumptuous tropical meals and beverages. There is no vehicle access to the rainforest resort — all guests, staff, and supplies arrive either by raft or by hiking in on foot. The company has sustainability and conservation at the forefront of everything they do, with a mission to expand conservation partnerships and projects in the Pacuare River Basin while being regenerative stewards at the Lodge. They support science projects in primary rainforest properties, help reforest secondary rainforest pasture land, and develop biodiversity metrics to steward the conservation legacy of Rafael (Rafa) Gallo in the Pacuare River watershed since 1985. Featured in Forbes and USA Today for responsible travel and best zipline courses in the world.
